Ash Green Meadows

This open area of former agricultural land comprises Ash Green Meadows in the western part, characterised by semi-improved damp grassland, and a number of improved grassland fields in the east. Scattered Oak trees within the eastern fields create a pleasant parkland character and mature wooded strips, hedgerows, scrub and seasonal ponds add to the rural atmosphere of the site. A number of footpaths provide opportunities for enjoyable circular and short walks and wildlife spotting.

Blandford Woods

A coniferous and mixed broadleaf woodland, formerly planted for British Army training and now a tranquil 14-hectare green space with a network of surfaced and unsurfaced paths to explore.

Bookhurst Wood

This lovely 15 hectare ancient semi-natural woodland near Cranleigh in Surrey, has large areas of old hazel and hornbeam coppice with mature oak standards, birch, ash willow and aspen that provide interest throughout the year. An enjoyable waymarked walk (1.3km) with interpretation points winds through the heart of the woodland. The bluebells in spring are a particular highlight.

Buckler’s Forest

Set amongst large areas of forest with open grasslands, heathlands and wetlands, this striking site has been created on land that was previously part of the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL). Elements of its fascinating past and the transport research that once took place here can now be seen imaginatively repurposed across the site for all to enjoy. With plenty of space for both wildlife and people, the site has wide surfaced tracks - perfect for walking, running or cycling.

Eashing Fields

This open countryside site was created in 2020 on two former agricultural fields. Mature tree belts and hedgerows along the site boundary were enhanced with the creation of areas of species-rich woodland and grassland to provide exciting new wildlife habitats. The site creation works also included a new car park, pathways, information boards and benches for visitors.

Horsley Meadows

Formerly agricultural fields, enjoy a circular stroll through these restored grassland and wildflower meadows set amongst veteran oak trees and experience the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of spending time in the great outdoors and among nature.

Little Heath Meadow

This open meadow adjoining the oak and birch woodland of Little Heath Common includes hedgerows, scattered trees, ditches and a pond. It is a great place for a peaceful short walk or a longer circular walk extending into the surrounding countryside. The adjoining Chobham Pet Cemetery established in 1932 is well worth a visit for its historical interest.

Oldlands Copse

This delightfully rural green space was established in 2022/23 on former arable farmland. With expansive meadows and intimate ancient semi-natural Oak-Hazel-Bluebell woodland, the site offers plenty of interest for visitors.  Native hedgerows, a species-rich meadow and a pond all add interest, making this an attractive new site for the local community and a haven for wildlife.

Runfold Ridge

This sloping rural green space was established in 2020 on former arable farmland. Fine elevated views across the wider landscape, existing woodland copses and native hedgerows, new native woodland, shrub and hedgerow planting, and a new species-rich meadow make this an attractive new site for local people and wildlife.

Sunningdale Park

With stunning views over undulating historic Grade II listed parkland, individual parkland trees, meadow grassland and woodland, Sunningdale Park and the adjoining Northcote Gardens provide an idyllic and beautiful space for people and wildlife, somewhere special for everyone to explore, enjoy and relax and to feel at one with nature.

Wellesley Woodlands

Wellesley Woodlands comprises 110 hectares of woodlands, wildlife habitats and lakes interlinked by footpaths and canal-side walks. These former MoD woodlands are divided into two main areas, Dukes Wood to the west and Lake and Canal Side to the east. Separate from these areas, to the south of Thornhill Road, are two smaller woodlands Thorn Hill and Heather Hill. This large and easily accessible natural greenspace provides plenty of opportunities to explore, enjoy and share in the rich diversity of the local Wellesley countryside.

Weyburn Meadows

This tranquil rural site bordering the River Wey has open wet grassland in the north and semi-improved grassland in the south. Hedgerows, treelines and woodland add to its diverse character and circular walking routes, pathways and a boardwalk enable enjoyable access all year round.
