We believe green spaces…

• Generate significant social, economic and environmental benefits
• Help build communities, improve people’s health and wellbeing and provide vital homes for wildlife
• Build strong communities and great places to live, work and play.
• Need long term investment in order to make a long-term difference
• Create quality places: decision makers should not just focus on quantity of houses, but quality of place

What we do

We create, conserve and enhance green spaces in and around urban areas, managing them long term, with secured funding, so that people have access to good quality open spaces and can benefit from the many opportunities the natural environment provides.

As an advocate of the benefits of green spaces, we use our experience and evidence to influence current thinking on issues that impact green spaces.

We want to ensure that local and national governments and decision makers across relevant sectors recognise the significant benefits that green spaces provide to society, the economy and the environment.

We do this in a variety of ways:

• Review best practice across our sites and share it with decision makers
• Provide expertise and advice on green spaces to decision makers by responding to policy consultations and taking part in relevant working groups
• Developing strategic relationships with those responsible and influential in green space policy, including national and local government.
