The sun shone and families turned up in their droves to enjoy a fun-filled family picnic at Beaulieu in Chelmsford on Saturday 4th July. The Land Trust managed site, developed by Countryside and L&Q, was designed as a sustainable new district to create a ‘beautiful place to live’ and these regular community events help to foster a happy community, where people feel truly at home.
The picnic was organised by Beaulieu Community Trust and Beaulieu Estates Management, who teamed up to produce a host of activities for children of all ages. The day also provided parents with ample opportunity to make new friends and to really enjoy the benefits of living on a development that has miles and miles of open land to enjoy.
Lauren Hull, the Estate Manager at Beaulieu, was instrumental in making the picnic a success and commented: “We had a turnout of over 120 residents, who brought their families, picnic rugs and food to enjoy the many activities that were on offer. It was lovely to see people chatting and making friends, and the children loved being able to play outdoors with one another. The stocks were particularly popular, with children queueing up to throw a soaking wet sponge at volunteers. I think the volunteers were quite happy to get a dousing as it was a very hot day!”
The Beaulieu Community Trust and the team that will run events at the newly completed Beaulieu Community Centre, were delighted to be involved. Reverend Dan Pierce took a very active role in the day, playing football, doing arts and crafts and of course taking a stint in the stocks. Dan commented: “I had a fabulous day. It allowed me a great opportunity to meet more of our residents in an informal situation and to let people, who are interested, know about Beaulieu Churches and to give them a bit more information on how we plan to
The next major event to be hosted at Beaulieu will be the opening of the Beaulieu Community Centre, when residents will be able to try their hand at a host of activities that are to be offered at the centre.
