The Land Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Nurture Landscapes for the landscape management contract at the charity’s residential service charge site at Upton.
Nurture Landscapes will take on responsibility for Upton from March with initial works to help raise the standard on site. The core maintenance contract will commence in April for an initial three-year period with an option to extend by a further two years.
Land Trust Estates manager, Charles Langtree, said:
“At the Land Trust we are passionate about every green space that we manage. Over the last 12 months we have listened to the views of the residents of Upton, and after consultation decided it was the right time to recruit a new contractor and we are really pleased to confirm the appointment of Nurture Landscapes. We believe that well managed and maintained public open spaces and green spaces deliver significant social and economic value to an area, improving the health and wellbeing of the community. We are committed to making this a reality for the community of Upton.
“They have an excellent knowledge of the site already and we are confident that their appointment will lead to a bright new future at Upton.
“We look forward to working with them over the next three years.”
Nick Alex, chair of the resident’s association for Upton, who was part of the tender panel, said:
“I was impressed with the answers offered by Nurture Landscapes who demonstrated a clear passion for Upton, beyond simply wanting to get the job done.
“They have previous experience of the site and a clear idea of what is needed on the ground and the standards required.
“When they worked on the site a couple of years ago they built up a great rapport with many of the residents and it was genuinely clear that they really care about the standard of their work.”
Darrell Hedden from Nurture Landscapes added:
“We are delighted to have been chosen to take on the landscape management contract at Upton and relish the opportunity of working hard to raise the standards on site. Like the Land Trust we believe that a well-managed green space has the ability to unite communities and bring people closer together and we are looking forward to working in partnership with the Trust and the residents of Upton to make this happen.”
The Land Trust has managed Upton since 2016 and has the responsibility for the green space management within the development, maintaining and enhancing the green community spaces, including the Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems that residents contribute to through paying a service charge.
