Bioblitz adventure at Liverpool Festival Gardens

11th August 2015

Pond dipping, butterfly counting and moth trapping are just some of the exciting activities taking place at Liverpool Festival Gardens this weekend as part of a bioblitz extravaganza.

Kicking off on Friday night (11 Aug), then running all day Saturday, everyone from budding scientists to curious parents and teeny tots can take part in an event designed to show people the vast array of intriguing wildlife that exists right on their doorstep.

Among the activities will include mammal trapping, kids’ fun activities, amphibian surveying, a big butterfly count, along with bird and insect surveying.

Get involved! The event starts at 7.30pm Friday, running until 11pm. The following day’s activities start at 10am, finishing at 4pm. For further details, contact Carolyn Hassall (project manager) on 07795 256145.

The event is being co-ordinated by Green Angels, a project overseen by national land management charity the Land Trust, and run in association with Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Liverpool World Museum and Merseyside Biobank.

Green Angels provide free courses at Festival Gardens, funded by the Big Lottery, aimed at improving the quality of life for local communities by providing environmental training opportunities, such as parks and countryside management.
