24th October 2017 : 1pm to 4pm
Join us to celebrate the Our Story project and the park's recent successes.
The free event, which runs from 1pm to 4pm on Tuesday 24th October, marks the end of the ‘Silverdale – Our Story’ project which set out to record the memories of villagers and ex-miners who worked at the former colliery site.
The project, made possible by National Lottery players via the Heritage Lottery Fund, used oral and written accounts, as well as photographs from people who lived and worked in the area, to create a heritage trail and a dedicated website.
The 83-hectare park near Newcastle-under-Lyme has recently gone on to achieve national recognition in the form of a Land Trust Award, Heart of England in Bloom Gold Award and Green Flag status. The Green Flag will be officially raised on site as part of the celebrations.
People are invited to come along and learn more about the project and the history of the site through displays, guided walks and talks. There will also be a range of FREE family activities including arts and crafts, garden games, an inflatable assault course, face painting and a bouncy castle. There will also be a FREE BBQ.
