Pond Dipping & Bug Hunting Day

Don't miss our popular pond dipping and bug hunting sessions. As part of London Tree Week we will also be looking for minibeasts that live in trees and dead wood. #LondonTreeWeek

Pond dipping sessions are from 11am to 12 noon and from 1-2pm.

Bug and newt hunting sessions are from 12 noon – 1pm and 2-3pm.

Suitable for all ages and no booking necessary unless you are a group of 8 or more.

All under 10s must be accompanied by an adult on site.

Dress for the weather (it will go ahead rain or shine!). Pond dipping involves lying down on a wooden decking area.

The site has a visitor centre and toilets, including accessible toilet with baby changing facilities. There is no café on site but there is a village square with café and small shops nearby.

Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park

Good level access across the site with wide wooden boardwalks and accessible bird hides. Activities are also accessible. Disabled toilet and baby changing facility. Wheelchair available to borrow. Disabled parking space at end of John Harrison Way. Ring 0208 293 1904 for any special parking arrangements needed.

Good public transport access: North Greenwich tube, buses 108, 129, 132, 161, 188, 422,472, 286 to Millenium Village Oval Square stop. By bicycle or on foot : along the Thames Path between the O2 and the Thames Barrier, with places to lock bikes. Free parking for 2 hours on John Harrison Way, Pear Tree Way and West Parkside but spaces are very limited.
