Braeburn Park was recognised for an excellent last 12 months winning Most Improved Space at the Land Trust Awards 2018.
Nestled beside a housing estate, the Land Trust took ownership of Braeburn Park in 2014 with a vision to provide a well maintained open green space that would benefit the local community and wildlife.
Over the last year the managing partners of the site, the London Wildlife Trust, have successfully reached out to the local community to help the Land Trust achieve our management goals.
The site has physically improved in terms of the quality of the habitats on the site, while the construction of a new forest schools area will bring further benefits to the local community.
Land Trust, director of portfolio management, Alan Carter, said:
“It has been great to see Braeburn Park thrive over the last 12 months.
“When the Land Trust first took ownership of the site in 2014 we had a vision that the space could be a real hub that would benefit local people and wildlife and it’s been fantastic to see that ambition really start to come to fruition over the last year, making Braeburn a worthy winner of our Most Improved Space award.”
Shirebrook was Highly Commended in the category for their work on biodiversity.
