Join White Cliffs Countryside Partnership for a nature filled family fun day at Fort Burgoyne!

 

As part of White Cliffs Countryside Partnership’s Summer Festival, we are hosting Sunday Funday at Fort Burgoyne. Come and learn more about the wildlife of Kent, brimming with a wide range of activities, games, information stands, craft stalls and much more this is an event not to be missed.

What’s on?

  • Nature zone: Filled with information stands and children’s activities from local wildlife organisations
  • ‘Buzz’ theatre production by Smoking Apples Theatre : Join Billy Bumble as he shrinks down to bee-size and learns about the troubles that they face. Featuring spell-binding puppetry and a giant honeycomb set, join us for a whirlwind ride, avoiding grumpy Mr Fred and the gaping jaws of Shredder the dog! Show times: 12pm & 2pm
  • Story telling by Tales from Mother Earth. Times: 11:30am, 1:30pm & 2:30pm.
  • Meet the cows!: Meet the dexter cows which graze some of our WCCP sites.
  • Meet the honeybees!: Using an observation hive you will have the opportunity to look at the busy world of a bee hive and learn more about these vital pollinators from the Fort Burgoyne bee keepers.
  • Bug Hunt
  • Wildlife themed games and activities.
  • Craft stalls
  • Food and drink
  • Face painting

Most of the event will be on the tarmacked parade ground at the Fort with ramps provided to access event areas off of the parade ground. The outdoor theatre production will be taking place on short grass on slightly uneven ground in places. Ramps up to the terreplein of the Fort are on short grass but a steep incline. There will be a disabled ‘portaloo’ on site.

Free parking on Burgoyne Heights recreation ground. Follow event parking signs.
