New toddler play area at Hogmoor Inclosure

Younger visitors to Hogmoor Inclosure, Hampshire can look forward to new adventures in the new toddler play area.

Installed since February, the area was officially opened on Tuesday 21 March and features a toddler climbing net to develop co-ordination and core strength, platformed mini house and slide for imaginative play, two rocking horses to ride, a see saw for playing with friends, a ground level playhouse for sharing and twin toddler swings.

Local families working with Home Start Hampshire were invited to join a Teddy Bears Picnic activity, hunting for Ken the Deadwater Valley Trust Bears missing picnic items, before ribbon cutting and refreshments as well as lots of play.

The installation of the toddler play equipment came after feedback from local people regarding the future development of the site. Supported by Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company the installation complements the existing play area and continues the development of the site as a valuable local amenity.

Hogmoor Inclosure is under the management of the Land Trust, a national charity committed to the long term sustainable management of open space for community benefit, in partnership with local charity Deadwater Valley Trust who have managed green spaces of Whitehill and Bordon for over 30 years. The Hogmoor Café and Beehive community room on site are managed by Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust.

Deadwater Valley Trust Community Ranger Julie Reid said “We are delighted to be able to offer our younger visitors a play area. The equipment has been chosen to help develop hand-eye coordination and build core strength as well as encourage imaginative play and help with identification of  risk, which is vital for children’s development”

Marie-Anne Philips Land Trust Estates Manager at Hogmoor Inclosure explains “Hogmoor Inclosure is a well used local amenity which The Land Trust and Deadwater Valley Trust are proud to manage on behalf of Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company for the benefit of the residents of Whitehill and Bordon. The new equipment is a fantastic addition, and we look forward to seeing it in use.”
