Wellesley Woodlands celebrates first birthday

14th November 2016

Wellesley Woodlands is today (14th November) celebrating its first birthday.

The woodlands, transformed from army training ground in the Hampshire town of Aldershot, comprise 271.8 acres of bespoke green open space, and were created by property management company Grainger plc, national land management charity the Land Trust and local organisation Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership.

Designated a Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG) in agreement with Natural England, Wellesley Woodlands  is integrated into the Wellesley neighbourhood, giving easy access for residents with over 16km of well-defined footpaths. It is also home to a wide range of plants and animals, features unique wooden sculptures representing the area and even retains historical elements from Aldershot’s military story.
