The Land Trust Highly Commended at 2020 RESI Awards

The Land Trust enjoyed success at the 2020 RESI Awards, with the charity picking up Highly Commended in the Eco Initiative of the Year category.

The Trust was one of 11 organisations shortlisted and was nominated for its work transforming the residential service charge market.

The Land Trust has been managing public open space within residential property developments since 2016, and now has responsibility for nine service charge sites delivering significant economic and social value to 4,500 homeowners.

Land Trust, Chief Executive, Euan Hall, said:

This recognition highlights the really important work we are doing on our service charge spaces, not only cutting the grass and picking up litter, but delivering community activities that produce significant economic and social value.

“Everything we do on these sites is driven by our charitable objectives and the hard work of the Land Trust team, in partnership with our local managing partners, deliver green spaces that positively impact people’s physical and mental wellbeing, create education and training opportunities, boost the local economy and allow biodiversity and wildlife to thrive.

“Perhaps most importantly though the work we do creates community cohesion, bringing new homeowners together, turning houses into homes and neighbours into friends. These relationships are what enable communities to thrive in the long-term.”

In 2019-20 for the first time, the Trust was able to analyse the economic and social value created on its service charge sites, with the model showing nearly £2.5 million was created from the management of the green spaces around the Trust’s service charge sites. This figure rises to over £16 million when the uplift in property prices is taken in to consideration.
