15th July 2016
Love Parks Week (15th – 24th July) is a time to celebrate the parks and green spaces that we love and to recognise all of the hard work done across the country to protect and maintain them.
In a time where increasing amounts of local authorities are having to pull back vital resources, work such as that undertaken by the Land Trust is becoming invaluable to the upkeep of our parks and green spaces.
As an independent charity, The Land Trust provides cost effective solutions for the long term management of public open space and green infrastructure. Our goals as a charity are to secure sustainable open space for the benefit of the local area to boost the economy, promote healthy lifestyles, protect and enhance the environment, offer educational opportunities and encourage community cohesion. We do this through identifying sustainable funding solutions, creating long-term relationships and actively managing the land to encourage positive community engagement.
We manage our sites to create great places for nature as well as for our visitors to enjoy and we are proud that a number of our sites are an important resource for biodiversity and nature conservation.
These rich spaces need careful management and as many of our sites have had an industrial or development history, it can sometimes take a long time to establish the right conditions but nature is amazing; create the right habitat and it will flourish.
As the week goes on, we’ll be sharing how important our sites are to local communities so keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter. We’d also love to hear why your local Land Trust site matters to you and we’d love to see your pictures too!
