13th September 2017 : 5.15pm - 6pm
A weekly, Wednesday evening 'Walk to Run' session open to everyone and supported and led by a qualified Leader in Running Fitness. The distances, pace and recovery periods are all set individually to suit those who come. The duration of the Walk to Run will normally be 45 minutes.
A Walk to Run within the country park that provides an escape to the countryside. Links to a canal towpath and public footpaths are also used to form varied, looped routes. Well-surfaced and fully accessible paths are used, with few slopes. From November to February we use street-lit areas of the hospital grounds.
Just turn up and take part (no booking required). The Walk to Run takes place all year round.
We encourage you to opt in to the 12-week Nature4Health programme and research study that helps you to a healthier, more active lifestyle and gathers self-assessed data to evidence the benefits of regular physical activity in natural green spaces for physical and mental wellbeing. Part of the England Athletics ‘Run Together’ scheme.
Wear comfortable, layered clothing (with a bright or reflective top) and footwear suitable for running in the countryside or around the hospital grounds depending on the season. Bring a waterproof jacket according to the weather forecast. You might want to bring a change of footwear. A bottle of water is suggested.
Public toilets are not available nearby but arrangements can be made with the public house or hospital nearby.
We meet up at the Countess of Chester Hospital's Haygarth Building reception, off Valley Drive, Chester (CH1 4ED for nearby parking).
Fully accessible routes are available from the meeting up point that are tarmac surfaced and mainly level with a few slopes. There is a regular bus service (No 15) that stops outside the country park. The nearest railway station is at Bache, approximately 800m from the country park.
Car parking is available and is free of charge. Located off Countess Ct / Valley Dr CH1 4ED
