Avenue Washlands Nature Reserve

9th April 2019 - 10th April 2019 : 9 April 7-9pm & 10 April 9.30-11.30am

Learn about the newts that live and breed at the Avenue Washlands nature reserve over a two session event.

Part 1

An evening session includes an introduction to the reserve and newts. You will learn how to carry out torchlight surveys and set bottle traps in a number of reserve ponds alongside certified Derbyshire Wildlife Trust staff.

Part 2

The following morning we will collect and empty the survey traps and see what has been found – no animals will be harmed.

Dependent on weather conditions.

Suitable for age 12+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult). Ideally you should be able to attend both sessions.

Booking essential as numbers limited to 16.

Wear warm outdoor clothes and wellingtons. It is highly dependent on weather conditions (i.e. dry and not too cold).

Meet at the Learning Centre car park off Mill Lane

We will be walking over rough grassland and pond edges.

Parking is available at the Learning Centre Car Park off Mill Lane.
