4th June 2016 : 10am - 4pm
Come and visit YOUR local nature reserve. Enjoy guided walks being held throughout the day to learn about the reserve, the local history and how the different parts of the site are being managed to permit the local plant life and wildlife to flourish.
Previously a sand quarry and land fill, Hassall Green Nature Reserve is a fantastic mix of mature woodland and young meadows. The site is being considerately managed to let the habitat evolve naturally.
Located on the southern outskirts of Hassall Green village, close to the Salt Line footpath, 2 miles from Alsager and 5 miles from Sandbach & Haslington, it’s YOUR local nature reserve just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed by the local community.
The site consists of a recently planted wildlife meadow as well as mature oak woodland and scrub areas. The nature reserve hosts a growing variety of species of bird, bat and butterflies, including Common Spotted Orchid, Common Blue butterfly, Tawny Owl, Buzzard, Kestrel, Woodcock, Soprano & Common Pipistrelle Bats and Natterer’s Bat.
