Situated on a former colliery, remediation of the site began in 2001 using funding from the National Coalfields Programme and was completed in 2003. The Land Trust took over management of Warren House Park in 2007.
As well as a variety of leisure facilities, visitors to the park can enjoy a thriving and ever-increasing wildlife value, thanks to several special nature projects. These include commemorative woodland spanning 700 trees, which was planted by volunteers, the cultivation of several hedgerows and the establishment of wildflower meadows. The meadows have seen a significant rise in the number of insects and small mammals, meaning pipistrelle bats, kestrels and barn owls can now be found at the park.
