What we do

Our vision is to improve the social and economic quality of people’s lives by creating sustainable, high-quality greenspaces.

Charitable objectives

Our work is guided by the delivery of our charitable objectives, which are embedded in everything we do:

Health and wellbeing

Promoting the use of our green spaces for the improvement of the health and wellbeing of communities.

Environment and biodiversity

Creating, restoring and managing green spaces to improve the natural environment through increasing biodiversity and enhancing habitats.

Education and learning

Inspiring the current and next generation through vocational outdoor education and training opportunities.

Economic vitality

Optimising the economic value of our spaces and the services that they can provide to benefit the communities that are connected with them.

Community cohesion

By involving local people though volunteering and use of our sites and encouraging emotional ownership.

How we’re funded

Securing sustainable funding is key to the Land Trust’s operations, enabling us to manage our sites for people and nature in perpetuity.

We receive income for each site from a range of different sources, and work with clients to identify which option is most suitable to meet the obligations of managing their particular space in perpetuity. These include:

  • Service charges from residential dwellings or commercial properties
  • Endowment/commuted sums
  • Section 106/Community Infrastructure Levy payments
  • Operations income
  • Third party grants
