Ridgetop Park

Sitting on the high ground of Matford, boasting some of the best views of Exeter and beyond

Divided into different sections, this wonderful open green space has much to discover and explore, offering room to breathe, relax and enjoy the views.  

Cloud Base provides an opportunity to admire the expansive skies while leaning back in the specially designed seating. Keep an eye out as you explore the site for the wooden art carvings, local history information boards, walking paths, birdwatching opportunities, and wildlife spotting. 

Ridgetop Park is managed in partnership with Teignbridge District Council for the benefit of local residents and wildlife. The Council’s Rangers look after the site on a day-to day-basis and run community events.

Situated on former agricultural land, Ridgetop Park is a Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) delivered to mitigate the impact of new development on the Exe Estuary. The park opened in 2022, with a car park opening in March 2023 to make it more accessible. 

Ridgetop Park boasts spectacular views and a wonderful history. Several areas have been planted to enhance existing habitats and establish new habitats, with soaring pathways providing a range of different viewpoints and a variety of interpretation boards for a quality visitor experience.
