Telford Millennium Nature Reserve

A special home for nature in the middle of a busy urban environment

The reserve was developed alongside the Telford Millennium Village to offer residents and the wider community the chance to explore, learn and find a moment’s peace within a beautiful natural environment. Formerly a mining site, the interesting and undulating landscape is a product of this industrial past, giving fantastic views over the Shropshire Hills thanks to the landfill and spoil heaps underneath.

This varied character allows an interesting variety of habitats to flourish on this reserve, ranging from mature woodlands, ponds and streams to vibrant gorse scrub, open heathland and colourful wildflower-filled grassland. These habitats are home to a rich diversity of wildlife, such as common lizards, grass snakes, newts, and small mammals on the ground, and birds, bats, bees and butterflies in the skies.
