The Land Trust is tendering for a Management Agent at Warren House Park, Askern – with a new contract starting from October 2026

Warren House Park

The 21ha site is situated on the former Askern Colliery, which began working in 1911 before being permanently closed in 1991. Following its closure the abandoned coal and coalite site was taken on by Yorkshire Forward and complex remediation works were managed by Renaissance South Yorkshire, funded by English Partnerships. The present-day Warren House Park is situated on the site of the pithead buildings, marshalling yard and a coking works.

The fully reclaimed site is now a thriving public open space and ownership was transferred to the Land Trust in 2011, with the City of Doncaster Council managing it on their behalf since. The Park is a mix of small, mostly broadleaved, tree compartments, conservation and amenity grassland, much of the latter given over to sports pitches. It also includes a youth play area and a network of hard surfaced paths, in addition to changing room facilities adjacent to the sports pitches. The site borders the residential areas of Instoneville, Askern and a new housing development built by Keepmoat Homes to the west and has good connectivity to the local communities.
