Events, licences & permits

The Land Trust’s parks and green spaces are attractive settings for a wide range of activities and events. They offer welcoming landscapes, essential community spaces and important havens for wildlife. As a result, demand for holding events or activities on our sites continues to grow.

To protect the long‑term wellbeing of our sites, we must balance:

  • the enjoyment and safety of everyday visitors
  • the needs of sensitive habitats and species
  • the ongoing stewardship and maintenance of our land

This balance ensures our spaces remain vibrant, resilient and accessible for everyone who relies on them.

Why you need a licence or permit & why we may charge a fee

If you’re interested in hiring space within one of our greenspaces to run an activity or event, we ask that you contact us through our online enquiry form so we can understand your plans and guide you through the process.

Requesting a licence or permit helps us:

  • Keep people safe – ensuring appropriate risk assessments and public liability insurance are in place protects participants, visitors and organisers alike.
  • Protect nature and facilities –  thoughtful planning helps prevent damage to landscapes, habitats and infrastructure.
  • Manage impacts – we consider how activities might affect wildlife, nearby communities and other site users.
  • Support long‑term care – responsible management today helps protect our sites for the future.
  • Avoid clashes permissions – help prevent overlap with other events or activities already taking place

Our aim isn’t to create barriers, but to make sure activities are safe, well‑managed and respectful of these shared spaces, allowing everyone to enjoy them responsibly now and for years to come.

If you’re unsure whether your activity needs permission, we’re always happy to help, simply get in touch using our enquiry form and we’ll talk it through with you.
