The Countess of Chester Country Park, covering 19 hectares, was once a landfill site next to the Countess of Chester Hospital. Remediated in the 2000s, the land was partially used for housing, with the remaining area given to the Land Trust to develop into a country park. Officially opened in 2014 by the Duchess of Cornwall, it has since become a popular community space.
The park features a rich variety of wildlife, including kingfishers, kestrels, and butterflies, alongside cultural highlights such as sculptures, memorials, and art trails. A dedicated Friends group play a key role in the day-to-day running of the park and many of the projects that have seen the Countess retain Green Flag status since 2018.
