Parkrun at the Countess of Chester Country Park

14th July 2016

Free outdoor running group Parkrun has launched a new event in Chester.

Local runners Mat Dowsett and Helen Dolby, who both work at MBNA, along with 15 other volunteers held their first run on Saturday.

Launched thanks to the Land Trust and a donation from the MBNA Foundation, the 5km parkrun will take place every Saturday at 9am. It’s free to take part and runners of all abilities are welcome to join in.

Simply register online at www.parkrun.org.uk and you will receive a barcode which you need to take with you in order to get your official time.

*After around nine months of hard work to get Chester Parkrun established, organisers were delighted to hold an inaugural event on Saturday 9 July.

Despite the heavy and persistent rain 234 runners turned out to celebrate our launch with us.  Conditions were challenging but the preparation of the core team and volunteers, without whom the parkrun could not take part, all paid off and the 5k run went without incident.

Park runners came from far and wide – even from London,  Local running clubs also go involved and turned out in force to support Chester Parkrun.
