Hearty applause rang out around Toxteth Town Hall during a special ceremony celebrating the graft of green-fingered trainees at Liverpool's Festival Gardens.
Green Angels is a Big Lottery-funded free programme, provided by the Land Trust, which seeks to boost the quality of life for local communities by providing fresh environmental training opportunities.
This year 27 people from a wide range of backgrounds across Liverpool benefited from completing career-enhancing courses at Festival Gardens that included: Countryside Management and Parks Maintenance, Business Skills, Environmental Education and Horticulture.
On Thursday 1 October marked the culmination of the trainees’ efforts at a special ceremony which took place at Toxteth Town Hall, with participants receiving commemorative certificates marking the completion of the Green Angels course.
Information stalls were set out around the venue by Continental Landscapes, Glendale Liverpool, Myerscough College and The Conservation Volunteers (TCV).
Certificates were presented by Euan Hall, Chief Executive of Land Trust, who said: “Meeting the Green Angels, hearing their stories and hopes for the future, simply underlines to me how important green spaces and nature is in people s lives.
“We look forward to working with Liverpool City Council and other partners as we seek to continue to be able to provide Green Angels courses across the city.”
